HM-AA500F
Howell
3506100010
AA500F is a universal acetoxy-cure silicone in a one-component, non-sag, elastomeric RTV form, aimed at glazing and general sealing jobs that have to last. Ambient water vapor triggers the acetic chemistry, so the material solidifies quickly and then holds its elasticity through a broad temperature span. Mildew protection is built into the formulation. The sealant grips glass, aluminum, painted surfaces, ceramics, fiberglass and non-oily wood, and its strongest hold is on general glass and aluminum alloy, the pairing behind its use in glass bonding and assembly for doors, windows and bathrooms.
Mildew-proof
Acetoxy silicone
Good elasticity
Wide range of temperature
Good adhesion
Good elongation
Low density
Sealant Grade: 12.5E
AA500F sets by drawing in airborne water vapor, so there is nothing to mix and no stirring step ahead of use; load the cartridge into a hand or air-powered gun and run the bead. Keep the faces dry and clear of oil, grease and dust before the sealant touches them. Shape the bead while it is still soft, ahead of skin formation, and detail the joint so the sealant never keys to all three sides.
Before the bead goes down, the joint faces are prepared so that oil, dust, handling marks and the loose natural oxide film left by production and transport are gone. Working the surface also opens it up into a profile that grips the sealant and upgrades its chemical receptivity and its endurance under load and weather. Isopropyl alcohol, methyl ethyl ketone and xylene are the usual solvents; use a white, soft, clean, lint-free cotton cloth.
Apply the two-cloth routine: a solvent-wetted cloth is drawn across the substrate in one direction, then a second dry cloth follows at once, before the solvent can flash off. Never dunk the used wipe back in the tin, or the solvent spoils and the cleaning weakens. Prepare no more area than can be sealed within 1 hour, and do not let a prepared face stand open to the air.
Run plastic masking tape alongside the joint so the finished sealing line stays crisp. Trim the hose mouth and fit the pointed nozzle, cutting the tip to a 45° angle that matches the joint size; seat the gun and travel it at that same 45°, keeping the extruded sealant pressed hard against the faces. Where the joint is wider than 15 mm, lay the sealant in successive passes. Finish by drawing a knife along the bead to shave off surplus material, pull the tape away, and lift any smear with a damp cloth.
Construction
Cleaning of the substrate surface
(1) The purpose of surface treatment before bonding is to remove oil, dust, surface damage and loose natural oxide film on the substrate surface during production and transportation, roughen the substrate surface, form a surface morphology suitable for structural integration, and improve the surface chemical properties and durability under stress environmental factors.
(2) Cleaning solvents are usually isopropyl alcohol, methyl ethyl ketone, and xylene. The cleaning cloth should be white, clean, soft, and non-linting cotton cloth.
(3) The substrate surface is cleaned by the "double cloth wiping" method. The clean cloth is soaked with solvent. The substrate surface can only be wiped in one direction. Before the solvent evaporates, immediately use the second dry and clean cloth to wipe off the solvent on the substrate surface.
(4) Do not put the soaked rag into the container for soaking, otherwise the clean solvent will be contaminated, affecting the cleaning effect.
(5) Only clean the bonding and sealing construction part within 1 hour each time. Do not expose the cleaned substrate surface to the air for too long.
Make a bet
◆Use plastic tape to cover the surface near the interface. To ensure that the sealing work line is perfect and neat.
◆Cut the mouth of the hose, install the pointed nozzle, and then cut it at a 45°angle according to the size of the caulking.
◆Install the caulking gun, keep the 45° angle to press the glue along the gap to ensure that the sealant is in close contact with the surface of the substrate. When the width of the joint is greater than 15 mm, it is necessary to apply glue repeatedly. After applying the sealant, use a knife to trim the surface, remove the excess sealant, and then tear off the tape. If there is a stain, it can be removed with a wet cloth.
Pad material
Open-cell polyurethane or closed-cell polyethylene foam filling rods and polyolefin materials are recommended gasket materials to prevent the sealant from sticking on three sides.
Restrictions on Use
Cannot be used for structural assembly
Cannot be used on surfaces that will leak plasticizers or solvents, which may cause the sealant to be damaged
Not recommended for use in completely sealed spaces, which may result in incomplete curing due to lack of water vapor
Not recommended for long-term immersion in water
Not recommended for structural surfaces that will directly contact food
Cannot directly contact the reflective coating of the mirror
