JD401 is a high strength super glue for accurate repairs. It is suitable for a variety of difficult-to-bond materials and achieves uniform stress distribution with excellent tensile and/or shear strength. The product bonds a variety of materials quickly, including metals, plastics and elastomers, and it also handles porous materials such as wood, paper, leather and fabrics, which makes it ideal for quick repair operations and small emergency repairs. Acidic surfaces such as chrome or electroplated surfaces are listed as workable too.
Clear, transparent
Fast curing
Good adhesion
Quick repair
Start with a bond area that is clean: grease must be gone before anything else goes on.
An accelerant may be used where needed - it goes onto the substrate side and is left to dry. Where a substrate has low surface energy, the page describes a treatment that improves the bonding effect; apply it sparingly and let it dry afterwards.
The adhesive goes on the other side of the bond; keep it off the accelerator surface, and never spread it with tissue paper or a brush. Bring the parts together fast, line them up precisely and hold them without over-adjusting.
Outside the bonding site, excess product can be solidified with an accelerator: spray or drop some onto the spill.
The joint needs clamping or fixing in place until the adhesive has passed its initial cure.
Load may only be carried once full strength has arrived, and because the gap separating the adhesive layer from the material being bonded is never the same twice, the typical full curing time of the adhesive is between 24 and 72 hours.
