NA500 General Purpose Neutral Silicone Sealant for Home Decoration
Product Description
NA500 handles general purpose neutral silicone sealing for home decoration. One-component and neutrally curing, it carries no irritating odor and corrodes neither metal, coated glass, mirror glass, concrete, marble nor granite, so the acid sealant drawbacks of smell and corrosion simply do not apply. Cured rubber holds good elasticity and displacement deformation ability, and adhesion to various building materials is good; low odor, fast curing, elasticity and mildew resistance with wide substrate adhesion are the characteristics the page names. Values: density 0.98 g/cm3 and a non-sag consistency, with 10 minutes of skin forming at 23 °C | 50 % r.h and a 3 mm/day curing rate. Hardness 35 Shore A, elongation at break 250%, tensile strength 1.6 N/mm2; grade 20HM; shelf life 12 months. It is built for non-structural caulking of glass curtain wall, for tile, wood, metal and cement floors, and for joints between metal or aluminum alloy doors and windows and the walls beside them. Use the numbers as an indication, not as material for writing specifications.

Usage
Begin with a clean substrate: the oil, dust and surface damage picked up in transit from production, and the loose natural oxide film, all have to come off, which roughens the surface so the mechanism can bed into it and also raises surface chemistry together with how well the bond resists the stress and environmental factors it meets. Isopropanol, methyl ethyl ketone or xylene, carried on a lint-free white cotton cloth that is clean and soft, are the usual solvents.
Work the double cloth method - one directional pass with the wetted cloth, then the second dry clean cloth lifts the solvent immediately, before it volatilizes. The soaked rag stays out of the soaking container, otherwise the clean solvent is contaminated and cleaning suffers. Clean only the bonding and sealing zone that will be worked inside the next 1 hour, and do not leave the cleaned surface open to the air for long.
Sealing opens with plastic tape laid beside the interface, so the working line stays straight and clean. Open the hose mouth, seat the pointed nozzle and cut it to a 45° angle matching the caulking size. The sealant gun then runs down the gap at that angle, pressing the rubber against the substrate surface, and a seam wider than 15 mm gets several passes. Finally knife the surface flat, lift the surplus rubber, pull the tape and wipe marks with a damp cloth.
Recommended padding: filler rods made of open-type polyurethane, of closed-cell polyethylene foam or of a polyolefin, which keep the sealant away from three-sided adhesion.
Curing data belong to 23 °C | 50 % r.h: skin forming 10 minutes, a non-sag consistency and 3 mm/day of cure, offered as a guide and not as a specification basis.
Restrictions on Use
• It is not intended for structural assembly.
• Do not apply it where plasticizers or solvents may leak out of the surface, as this may damage the sealant.
• A completely sealed space is not recommended, because the sealant cannot cure completely there without moisture.
• Not for locations that stay immersed in water for a long time.
• Structural surfaces in direct contact with food are not recommended.
• Medical device use is not recommended for this sealant.
Package and Storage
Cartons of 24 x 300ml plastic bottles, or 20 x 500-600ml flexible film packs, are the standard packings.
In a dry location below 27 °C the original sealed container holds a 12 month shelf life from the production date.
