HM-WR30 flows from a manual or pneumatic glue gun and needs no stirring; it solidifies on contact with water vapor in the air. Trim the sealant surface before a crust forms, and design the glue joint so three sides stay unbonded.

Surface cleaning of the substrate comes first. Treatment before bonding takes off oil and dust, surface damage, and the loose natural oxide film deposited during production and transportation, roughens the surface into a morphology suited to structural integration, and lifts the surface chemistry as well as the durability the bond shows under stress and environmental factors. Apply isopropyl alcohol, methyl ethyl ketone or xylene with a white, clean, soft, non-linting cotton cloth.

The double cloth wiping method is used: the clean cloth is soaked in solvent and wiped over the substrate in one direction only, then a second dry clean cloth removes the solvent immediately, before it evaporates. Never drop the soaked rag back into the soaking container, or the clean solvent becomes contaminated and the cleaning effect drops. Confine work to the part being bonded and sealed that will be completed within 1 hour, keeping exposure of the cleaned substrate surface to air short.

Mask the area beside the interface with plastic tape so the sealing work line comes out perfect and neat. Cut the hose mouth, fit the pointed nozzle and cut that at a 45° angle to match the caulking size. With the caulking gun in place, hold the 45° angle and press the glue along the gap so the sealant contacts the substrate surface closely; a joint wider than 15 mm takes repeated passes. Then knife the surface flat, clear the excess sealant, strip the tape and wipe any stain with a wet cloth.

Where a gasket material is needed, open-cell polyurethane or closed-cell polyethylene foam filling rods and polyolefin materials are recommended, since they keep the sealant from sticking on three sides.
